2019 to present

SGW Designworks develops anechoic chambers that allow vehicle safety technology companies to perform sophisticated tests of automotive radar systems.

Product Vision
Vehicle safety technology companies need anechoic chambers to test automotive radar systems.
When a client entering the 77 GHz radar market found commercial RF chambers too costly and incomplete, they turned to SGW for a practical alternative. We reverse-engineered the concept, designed custom fixturing for precise DUT positioning, and integrated motion control systems for repeatable test scenarios.
As the project evolved post-acquisition by Sensata, we adapted the design for multiple chamber sizes, packaged waveguides to simulate 30 m+ ranges in compact footprints, and incorporated blocked/unblocked path mechanisms. We delivered fully assembled, validated, and production-ready chambers that integrated seamlessly with the client’s workflow.
Final Outcome
A complete anechoic chamber that is built to order. The system is designed to provide:
- 8 production chambers delivered in multiple sizes
- Fully automated motion and fixturing controls
- RF waveguide packaging for long-range simulation
- Scalable, cost-effective production solution
