Designing for the operator
A vehicle display competes with everything else in the cab for the operator's attention. We design layouts, indicators, and controls that communicate clearly in a quick glance, with button sizes and spacing suited to gloved hands, tactile feedback that works on rough roads, and viewing angles that match real mounting positions.
Built for the vehicle environment
- Sealing against dust, water, and washdown
- Shock and vibration resistance for on-road and off-road use
- Sunlight readability and glare control
- Wide operating temperature ranges and sun load on the dash
- Mounting systems that hold position yet adjust for different cabs
- Cable routing and connectors that survive repeated vibration
Display and electronics integration
The display, buttons or touch inputs, processor board, and enclosure all have to fit together in a compact package. Our electrical and mechanical engineers design them together, including thermal paths for electronics in a sealed housing. We support prototype builds for field evaluation, then prepare the design for production.
Frequently asked questions
Can you design an HMI that works with gloves?
Yes. Button size, spacing, travel, and feedback are chosen for gloved operation, and touch interfaces are evaluated for glove compatibility and wet conditions.
Do you design the mounting system too?
Yes. Mounting is part of the design, since vibration, adjustability, and cab space all affect how well the display performs.
Can you develop the electronics inside the display?
Yes. Our electrical engineers design the boards inside the housing, and our firmware engineers can develop the embedded software that runs the interface.
Can you build prototypes for in-vehicle testing?
Yes. We build functional prototypes suitable for in-vehicle evaluation so operator feedback can shape the final design.
